Through the worst of the Winter months, Walking Football meets at 10.00am on Tuesday mornings at the Holbrook Club in Horsham.
Between 14 and 23 members of Hills Farm Lane FC’s walking football section turn up each week to enjoy a good run out (or should that be ‘walk out’) on the 3G surface. The social gathering afterwards for refreshments and a good catch up is also an essential and popular part of our regular sessions.
We are due back at our Shipley football site where we have a special Walking Football grass pitch, possibly as early as end March, once the weather improves. The players can get back onto their purpose-built, grass pitch, which for the purists is very much preferred than the harder, less forgiving synthetic surface.
Walking football enables those silky skills of yesteryear to be recalled and rehearsed, albeit at a more modest pace, that allows everyone of all abilities and ages, to enjoy the beautiful game in a competitive and friendly atmosphere.
